Fire! Fire!

Engine552 has posted a very nice fire-fighting diorama in his brickshelf gallery, which looks incredibly real. It is also worth checking out the rest of his amazing firetrucks and rescue vehicles.

BFD Units fought a stubborn 2 alarm fire a mixed use building. E3, T2, E1 and the Rescue responded on the 1st alarm. E2, E4 and T1 on the 2nd.

Inspired by Cafe Corner

Peachtree has created a neighborhood to surround the Cafe Corner (10182) set. Peachtree has added what look to be some new shops and houses. Of course, pictures are worth a thousand words so, rather than making me write 3000+ words, check out the gallery yourself.

Green Samurai

NickGreat has posted an amazing custom minifig, the next in his colored samurai line-up. So far, the line-up features red, white and black samurai. Now that line-up includes a very detailed Green Samurai.

News (5/14/07)

Not much happened today. I found out that the five car pile-up I blogged two days earlier wasn’t really that bad. There were no major injuries, only a few minor ones.

Also, Happy Belated Mother’s Day!!! Yesterday, we also didn’t do much, however we did go to the Olive garden for dinner. That was a real treat. The entire family stuffed ourselves full of bread sticks (with Alfredo sauce!) and salad. By the time the food came we were completely utterly stuffed. We left the restaurant with a shopping bag of food.

Another note, this Wednesday I’ll be helping with the 5th grade orientation at the Middle School. We’ll be giving tours and just talking. Unfortunately, we’re not allowed to tell horror stories. Aw…

Be sure to check out Xueren’s other excellent Mini-figs as well.

MASSIVE Car Accident!

Holy Crap!!! There was a massive 5 car pile-up on the highway behind my house today! One of the cars flipped!

Wow. I was outside, mowing the lawn, when I heard this loud screech, like when a car is going very fast, and then I heard it skid. Right after that came this huge bang/smashing noise. My brother and I went to the backyard and, using a ladder, climbed on top of the wall. From there we had an OK view of the 5 cars. Ouch. It was painful to look at. Anyway, as we watched, 2 ambulances, 3 firetrucks, and 5 police cars came up to the scene. At this time, traffic was backed up about two miles.

The collision had repercussions. The entire area around the Middle School was bumper to bumper since nobody could use the highway.

Anyway, this isn’t the first time it’s happened. Usually, however, the person in the accident simply busts a tire or bumper. In this case, however, somebody was going way too fast and hit other cars.

From what I can see, the strip of highway is an invitation to speeders. It’s basically a straight strip of highway, like a drag strip — no turns, bridges, exits — and therefore you can drive at high speeds for miles. As you can see, that is not a good situation.

Upcoming Swim Meet

Though this meet doesn’t take place until June 9th, its already time to get in the entries. This meet will be fun. Since it’s a fifty meter meet it won’t be very competitive. Unfortunately it will most likely be hotter inside the pool building than outside. At least the water will be cold!

So, here is what I’m planning on swimming:
100m Breaststroke
100m Freestyle
50m Free
200m Breaststroke

I’m still not sure about the 200 breaststroke but I’ll probably swim it.

Sorry + News

I haven’t posted in a while, sorry! I kind of forgot about this thing so I’m going to try to post more often from now on.

Anyway, not much has happened lately. I got Pokemon Diamond a couple days ago and have been playing that non-stop. Its not very innovative, much like the previous “real” Pokemon games, but the new Pokemon do add to the fun.

I’ve also been playing a lot of Pokemon Blue Mystery Dungeon. Very difficult. It takes some 2000 experience points to get your guys up a level. I’ve really just been testing the starters, trying to find one that suits me best.

On a different note, there was a massive five(5) car pile-up on the highway behind my house. I didn’t see it happening but I heard the car skid. From what I saw the highway was backed up two(2) or three(3) miles. Ouch!

Well that’s about it! I’m going to go on a posting spree so stay tuned!
